FABRIC
The bi-annual fashion weeks give us a heads up as to what to look out for, what to expect and what to base our future projections on, pertaining to major fashion related trends. These analysis go a long way in deciphering the changes and the direction in which fashion will be unfolding. Keeping the recent Amazone India Fashion Week as our focus, we outline the major fabric trends that are going to make a mark this season.
1. Velvet -
Indian designers unanimously roared their approval of the sleek and slinky velvet, in an array of colors for this fall and we are more than taking note. From fall tones like marsala, russet, potter's clay and pine grove to blanketing suit twin - sets, blazers, and sherwanis this look is ultra luxe and shall live on for Fall 2016.For the colder months, the slinky velvet is perfectly apt to cloak your body into as the temperature dips while not compromising on the style quotient and still being in trend!
2. Hand woven fabrics -
An army of designers sent their troops clad in ensembles stitched in organic cotton, raw silk, silk, crushed silk and the likes. While hand-woven fabrics have always reigned as a backbone on Indian runways, this season saw it being reinvented to suit modern day sensibilities and silhouettes.
3. Jacquards -
India cannot be complete without Jacquard fabrics that boast of the essence of our country as a whole. Sabhyasachi Mukharjee has worked his magic again this summer 16’. His collection had kurtas and sherwani’s made out of jacquard for groom’s wear.
4. Crafted Textures -
Surface texture and crafted texture are explored and manipulated for AW16/17. 3D form shifts from the sharp precision of the geometric sculpturing and lacy cut outs to a softer crafted quality.
5. Flower Power -
Dazzling floral prints are still an important part in 2016 menswear fashion trend. Overall floral prints, floral suits, floral bandhgalas and so on show you elegant gentle looks in addition to the semi-formal dressing-ups.
