WOMEN AND BESPOKE CLOTHING

Ever walked into a store looking for a dress that didn’t need your conscious effort of tugging and pulling to maintain its drape, or a pantsuit that fit you to the T rather than having your trouser fit you perfectly everywhere but your waist. Ever wondered why even if that dress ticks all the boxes on your list, it somehow just doesn’t look anything like the image you had in your mind once you try it on? Unlike your tee shirts and denims, clothes if not made for you, sends that very precise message indeed – It is not made for you.

Most women shy away from experimenting with clothing, cuts and colour, because their basics alone don’t fit them right to do them and their body any justice. We do not blame you.
For women so diverse in body type, style and age, Ready to wear is still their primary go-to for most of their wardrobe needs. This has been the easiest and the most cost effective option for years together especially when bespoke clothing has been looked at with a biased glance as solely ‘luxury’.
With the onset of a rising number of women unable to find good quality clothes that fit them well, they have slowly opened up to the concept of Bespoke tailored clothing, specially formal wear.

Why Bespoke clothing you say?
There are different types of women, with different bodies, tastes and styles. When garments are mass produced in your regular sizes of S,M,L & XL, we fail to realise these are standard sizing and a standard design. It will not and cannot suit every woman. A size larger isn’t going to hide that small beer belly, nor is a size smaller going to accentuate your curves. Finding your right fit, analysing your body type to understand what to accentuate and how, will help you do justice to your style and your body.

A well fitted outfit can do wonders, while the right fabric can shape your garment as you desire: feminine and draped to boxy and androgynous.

Worry not, the stylists at 108 Bespoke have heard your silent fitting room prayers and woes and we are here to help.  Over the next couple of weeks, through a small series of blogs we will decode women’s formal wear, what works best for your body type and the various body types to help you understand what suits you best.
