Inked and dyed

The forecast for Spring Summer 2017 promises an array of colours using age- old tie dye techniques like shibori, spiral, stripes and crumple, each technique bringing in a whole lot of interesting and intricate patterns and prints for the coming season.  Although mostly in shades of blue, shibori and other tie dye techniques work with any colour scheme be it bold, bright tones or soft, pastel shades. This trend can already be spotted in runways where designers like Issey Miyake, Julien David and Hermes have all implemented these prints and patterns in their Spring Summer 2017 collection. These fabrics and patterns can easily be implemented in Indian wear as well. From bandis and kurtas to bandhgalas, these beautiful patterns are surely going to give you something exciting to look forward to next season.  Forget florals this summer, think ink! - Suzaana George   Senior fashion stylist

The 'beard parade' at Golden Globes 2017

The Golden Globe Awards took over Beverly Hills, CA, on Sunday night, and in addition to   the gorgeous red carpet dresses , we couldn't take our eyes off all the dapper men. What's black, white, and (carnation) red all over? A hot Gos in Gucci. Let’s focus on the little details that set him apart: the bow tie is velvet (which is very difficult to tie), the shoes are also crushed velvet but lace-ups not slippers, and the boutonniere is in his breast pocket, rather than pinned to the shawl lapel. If you think any of these details are by accident, then you’ve probably never created a great brand. Extra points for the bell shaped ‘stache. Milo Ventimiglia said his navy blue made-to-measure Ralph Lauren Purple Label shawl-collar tuxedo, “moved like smoke” .   Let’s be honest: A moustache can go really wrong, really fast. But actor Milo Ventimiglia pulled off the old-school look by letting it stand on its own. His impeccably tailore...

Let’s face it. Men need to follow fashion blogs too. And I’m not talking about Avant Garde high fashion blogs that not every man can relate to. Cutting to the chase, here’s five bloggers I think all you men out there must know and follow.  What my boyfriend wore Without a doubt one of my personal favourites when it comes to menswear blogs, “What my boyfriend wore” is a blog for dapper dandies worldwide. The idea originally came up when Sergio Ines former girlfriend posted photos of what he wore on Instagram and has since become extremely popular. The blog speaks sheer class.   The gentleman blogger Matthew Zorpas of “The gentleman blogger” can never make a wrong choice when it comes to suits. Well, that’s probably why he made it big as a blogger! His blo...
